{"id":26,"date":"2005-06-16T19:54:00","date_gmt":"2005-06-17T02:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ilias.ca\/blog\/?p=26"},"modified":"2008-08-28T22:53:30","modified_gmt":"2008-08-29T02:53:30","slug":"i-got-a-virus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ilias.ca\/blog\/2005\/06\/i-got-a-virus\/","title":{"rendered":"I got a virus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, it a appears I got a computer virus.<br \/>\nI don&#8217;t exactly know how. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.f-prot.com\/products\/\">F-Prot<\/a> detected a few files in my <a href=\"http:\/\/java.sun.com\/getjava\/manual.html\">Java Plugin<\/a> cache last night, but the service person took one look at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.limewire.com\/english\/content\/home.shtml\">Limewire<\/a>, and suspected that.<\/p>\n<p>So, my laptop is out gone to be serviced for the next while, with no guarantee I&#8217;ll have my data, when I get it back. The ironic part is that I recently bought an external hard drive, and moved a lot of info I had on CDs to it. Not much in the way of important info, with the exception of Firefox, Thunderbird, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/projects\/calendar\/sunbird.html\">Sunbird<\/a> profile backups from May 26th. I did manage to transfer most of my current Thunderbird profile before the computer froze. I then couldn&#8217;t get that far again. The important info is on a partitioned drive, so hopefully it will not need have to be deleted.<\/p>\n<p>Having said that, don&#8217;t be surprised if you don&#8217;t hear from me in a while. I&#8217;m posting this via the family computer, and trying to salvage what I can from the external hard drive.
