Okey, thanks for the approach, but that´s as mentioned not a solution. That´s like just don´t looking at your peg leg means you haven´t one?

The windows icon hiding is very buggy in my experience so I turn it off (otherwise it hides icons I don't want hidden, regardless of my settings). mail.server.default.notify.on=false doesn't work. I'm running Thunderbird 2.0.0.9. Anyone found a suitable Thunderbird setting?

Hi, is there some way of getting rid of it under Win2000? I cannot find the entry in the control panel.

Thanks,

Hanspeter, that greyed out menu is only active when you have "hide inactive icons" checked (startbar properties) and gives access to the dialogue where you can set which icons can be hidden, which should always be displayed, and so on...

using that customize dialogue you can tell windows to always hide the menu, but it does not really "remove" it

Sweet. Took 10 minutes to find your blog. I had like 20 programs showing up and I wanted always show on about half so I clicked something like always show all, and it greyed out my 'customize notifications' option when right-clicking on the clock. Going through control panel i was finally about to figure it out. Thanks..

fixed on trunk? should this fix be in thunderbird 1.5.0.4? because the little mail icon still shows up in the notification area for me, despite having all notifications turned off in thunderbird prefs.

thanks
